Common Types of Balustrades for Your House

A balustrade can be defined as a railing which is supported by the use of balusters. They are either fitted in balconies or stairwells. The balustrades are intended to offer protection against falling as well as giving the house a decorative finish. They also come in various types according to the construction material used. Before purchasing a balustrade for your house, it is important to go over the many choices available in the market.

  1. Stainless Steel Balustrades – The stainless steel balustrades are quite a common choice due to the modern trends in architecture. These balustrades offer both versatility and durability. The steel also has an advantage of being bent into many forms, which is quite a handy feature. Two of the most common types include the square and rounded steel poles. The stainless steel balustrades can be decorated through the use of various shapes and designs cut into them.
  2. Polymer Balustrades – Polymer balustrades are quite an effective alternative to stone balustrades. They have a similar look to the stone balustrades in spite of the different materials used in their manufacturing. One of the advantages of the polymer balustrades is that they are crafted with the aid of a lighter and cheaper material making them pocket-friendly. The polymer used is consequently synthetic stone which is made from a mixture of pigment, polymer resin as well as limestone dust. The polymer balustrades offer quite a range of designs for one to choose from.
  3. Wood Balustrades – Wooden balustrades represent the most common types of balustrades used in the design of house interiors. The balustrades are crafted from wood just as their name suggests. The designs of such balustrades are simple as they are more than just wooden posts standing under a railing. One of the things which aid in their design is that they are carvable. In the hands of a skilled carver, the wooden balustrades can be transformed into exquisite works of art which will suit your household.
  4. Vinyl Balustrades – Vinyl balustrades can be considered as a low-cost choice when it comes to the installation of a balustrade system. However, the inexpensive materials that the vinyl balustrades are made from should not deter you from installing this kind as they pack quite spectacular features that might surprise you. These include durability as well as their need for low maintenance. The vinyl balustrades can offer more service for a lesser cost being a good decent choice when you do not wish to spend a lot.
