Two ways that cafe owners can use rare earth magnets on their premises
Rare earth magnets have many uses in commercial settings. Here are two of the ways in which cafe owners can use these magnets on their premises.
They can use them to keep their cafe door open on hot days
On a hot day, a busy cafe in which hot foods and drinks are being made can get very warm. To counteract this and avoid having to be too reliant on their HVAC system, many cafe owners like to keep their doors open, to let fresh, cool air into their premises. However, if they have doors that are designed to swing shut, then they'll usually need to use doorstops to prevent them from closing. In a cafe where there are customers coming and going through this entrance, the chances of someone accidentally moving the doorstop out of the way will be high and the door will end up closing and having to be repeatedly reopened by the staff.
One simple way that cafe owners can fix this frustrating issue is by using rare earth magnets to keep their premises' doors open. All that they would need to do is secure one small, discreet-looking magnet to the bottom corner of the door's interior and then secure another one of them to the part of their baseboard that the door touches when it's open. Due to the immense strength of these magnets, the one on the door will remain attached to the one on the baseboard (and thus keep the door itself open) even if customers sometimes lightly pull at the door whilst passing by it. Only by firmly pulling the door away from the magnet on the baseboard will the staff be able to close it.
They can use them to keep their tablecloths in place
In cafes where tablecloths are used, cafe owners can also use rare earth magnets to keep their tablecloths in place. Tablecloths can often shift if customers accidentally tug at the edges of them or, in outdoor dining areas, can fall off if it's very windy outside. This can lead to big messes that the cafe's employees have to clean up.
However, if a cafe owner simply puts one rare earth magnet on each corner of the tablecloth-covered table, and then puts more of these magnets on the corresponding parts of the underside of the table, these magnets, which are extremely strong, will stop the tablecloth from shifting even when it is pulled at or when a strong wind blows past it. Despite being very strong, these magnets are very small and so won't have a detrimental effect on the aesthetics of the cafe's nicely-decorated tables.
